Company’s coming.
We’dTbetter spruce up the place.
Better yet, how about starting over? The impending wedding of Rick and Jacque
Bailey’s daughter motivated the couple to finally renovate their landscape, a
project they’d talked about for years. When the Big Day—and visiting family
members—arrived, an uninspiring rectangular patio had been replaced by an
elegant, multifunctional living space.
The new landscape includes a grillingisland, a potting shed, and multiple
seating and dining spaces, unified by meandering flagstone paving and framed
by colorful flowerbeds. The separate yet connected spaces allow the patio to
accommodate larger crowds, but also offer more intimate settings for those
let-down times. “We have a lot of people over,” says Rick. “Often smaller groups,
but sometimes larger. It works well for all of that.”
